Inspired by Penang’s legacy as a spice island, the award-winning Tropical Spice Garden is a living museum of the spices and other tropical plants that have been cultivated throughout human history.

Set in a shaded valley overlooking the sea and surrounded by rainforest, the six-acre garden is also haven for birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles, offering amazing opportunities for photography and nature education.

Visitors are invited to use all five senses to appreciate the rich yet tranquil environment on a nature walk in the gardens either using our audio guides or our guided tours available only
on the weekends.

Our Cooking Classes are also a popular experience showcasing all the local cuisine of Penang and Malaysia including Nyonya, Malay, Penang street food amongst others.

Our increasing wellness offerings include ice bath therapy, forest bathing, outdoor yoga and singing bowl sessions.

For Islamic Tourism Month, Tropical Spice Garden is offering a special WOMEN’S ONLY edition of ICE & SPICE, ice bath therapy.

In this 2-hour session, you will be guided through a profound exploration of self-enhancement, fostering a deep connection between mind, body, and spirit. Because the Living Yoga Method has been meticulously crafted with breath work and purposeful movements, you’ll not only grasp but master the intricacies of your physical and mental capacities.

The Ice Bath experience unfolds as a culmination of the session, presenting an opportunity to gradually expose yourself to the invigorating power of cold. Beyond the initial chill, you’ll find that this practice contributes:

• to strengthening your immune system
• balancing hormone levels,
• enhancing the quality of your sleep

Participants should bring/ wear their swimming costume, a change of clothes, a towel and a yoga mat If they have.
